INSURANCE

Post by smithersoli »

Ladies and Gentlemen, (apologies in advance if this is bordering on too commercial for the forum)

I am an insurance broker by trade and although we don't do much car stuff due to the aggregators, I do have access to some high value car schemes for specialist vehicles and deal with fleets and individual clients where we hold other business insurances.

I mentioned my Excel to an underwriter in London who runs a Porsche race car scheme and he said that if I could get together some form of proposal, he would be interested in seeing what he could do for a group of car owners such as ourselves. (including our input for breadth of cover, track and hopefully price points etc)

I would propose that a commission was paid into forum running costs funds, say 5% of premium income, but in order to warrant the effort of setting this all up, would have to gauge some serious interest from members and a rough idea of when their policies might be due throughout the year so I have something to take to him to warrant it.

If this is permitted activity on the forum, could anyone who has an interest either comment on this thread or PM me.

I would be happy to restrict this to this forum to start, although may need to open to SELOC and others in order to catch a few more owners and make it better for all, just seeing what the general feeling is.

Oli

I would need SDP, Class 1 Business, & full euro cover (inc. Scotia if it happens  ) - ideally with an agreed value (though I don't have this at the moment).

When's your renewal date and will contact you directly to have a look at it.

I would be interested but not for a year as I have just taken new insurance out, I would be interested in SDP and agreed value +track day.

Assuming this isn't in contravention of forum rules, my office email address for any form of insurance query is OBS@sennocke.co.uk (real name Oliver Boatwright-Smith) I can do any forms of insurance, such as PL and commercial as above and will look at the forum policy shortly.

Telephone number is 01732 742 102.

I have all that plus euro breakdown cover included but no class 1 . Very reasonable too, so might be hard to beat.

I'd want SDP, commuting, (very) infrequent track-day use would be nice but not essential, agreed valuation (£3,500). Renewal date mid-December. I paid £280 last year with Lancaster (42-y-o with a driving ban from 2012 still visible on my licence, car garaged at night, 8,000 mileage limit I think), I don't think that includes track-days so I'd be prepared to pay a little more to gain that, does include breakdown cover (not had to use yet  ).

As long as the price was in the right ball-park, I'd choose a club scheme over my existing scheme if I knew it was helping support this invaluable forum.

To add to my earlier post I will add my cover details to assist.
49 1/2 y-o (looks 40   ); clean licence (wife took points  :D (not) ) ; Value 4K; miles 5000; SDP & commuting (no track/race); UK and european cover; UK breakdown; European assistance - Premium £130 ish. RH Insurance.

Again, if on the same field I would support the forum with out a blink.

I know insurance in the Netherlands works a bit different.
Have one advice, call your insurance direct an say that you think about changing it, that they are too expensive.
Did that a few months ago. got a discount on each car up to 100 euro's each!
