Re: No Hazard Lights Indicators Work Fine Just Failed MOT
I have searched the site under hazard lights and found that mine is the year where there are two relays instead of one. I have managed to locate the relay in question. I notice it has four wires connected to the back of the board. The other relays seem to have five or three wires connected. The pattern doesn't seem to match any of the relays I have. Does anyone know a part number for the hazard relay?? The hazard switch is located on top of the steering coloum.

OK - that's a post-85 MY wiring loom then.
The relay in question (assuming it's not the timer which also controls the flashers) should be a changeover type (according to the service notes wiring diagram) so ought to be available off the shelf from any good motor factor. A simple test would be to swap it for the headlamp changeover relay which is in the passenger footwell behind the side carpet panel.
It doesn't actually *have* to be a changeover as one terminal is not used (common feature on many of the relays), but the unused one is the normally open side rather than the normally closed, so it would be difficult to find a suitable alternative. It's main function, though, seems to be to provide a supply to the hazard warning lamp, but I suppose bad coil in it could cut supply to the lamps too.
The timer module is a standard "flasher" relay, also available off the shelf from just about any decent motor factor (or even Halfords).

Is it the same relay as used for the fan for instance. If I could be sure I had the correct relay in place I could then investigate the swith and so forth.

As I said - the headlamp changeover relay is the obvious one to use as it has to be the correct type. Others can be single throw rather than changeover types.

This problem turned out to be a broken switch. Thank you to anyone who helped.
