Regular viewers of the column might remember I've advertised this before but have only had minimal interest shown- the financial climate must be bad!
Anyway being realistic I've dropped the price from the original £5000 to £4100 as I've reasoned that with the insurance up for renewal within the next few weeks I'm not losing too much.
It's a 89 model, silver with half blue leather trim. I've owned it since 2000 and during that time upped the mileage from 42000 to 65000 so it's had fairly regular use. Not trusting the garage trade (apologies for any unintended offence) I've always serviced it myself as I've owned Lotus since 1974.
Work done- two galvanised door beams plus new pins/bushes modified for grease nipples. New electronic ignition, new water pump, recored radiator, new cambelt (two weeks ago), new headlining, new carpets, new front braking system ie everything overhauled, both door frames stripped to bare metal and repainted, two new door mirrors plus the switch, new wiper motor, new front screen, overhauled heater motor (now has all of the speed settings), two uprated cooling fans (manually controlled), new stainless downpipe and flexible joint (whole system now stainless).
The four tyres are about quarter worn, mot expires April 2010 as does tax.
Car has been part painted to tidy up various stone chips etc. Everything works properly, the only item not done is the replacement of the rubber trim strip across the top of the front screen (the original was damaged when the screen was removed). I'm the third owner- unusual for a car of this type as I imagine most have changed hands quite frequently.
Reason for selling-I'm not really using it very much nowadays and I'm probably less attached to machines than I used to be.
