Rear Seats & Baby Travel...

Hi Guys
im sure that you guys have brought this up before and will be able to point me in the right direction quickly...

couldnt find anything on the search, though im sure i have seen a discussion about this...

My wife and I are expecting, and im worried about baby seating...
does anyone have any experience, my wife would like an all in 1 travel system thingy... does anyone know of one which fits?

any recomendations?

Congratulations to both of you.

The carrycot style seat from the Graco range fits in (although a bit awkward to get your hand underneath to do up the seat belt).
I think that this is the current version of the one we had for my daughter.

I can almost guarantee however that you will not get the pram frame in the boot - on every one of these we looked at the handles are a solid bar which means that they will never be less than about 2 foot wide when folded up.

At about 15 - 18 months you will probably want the next stage - this one fits from Argos:

In both cases it is a good idea to fill the dip with an old cusion or pillow otherwise they can tip backward.

If in any doubt mothercare world are really helpfull - in actual fact I just bought a new seat for my daughter for use in our main car and they pretty much insisted on a test fitting to make sure it was a perfect fit.

My Grandson came home from hospital in the Lotus.

The baby buckets go in the back really well, withn the seat belts as restraints.

Nick is now 2 1/2 and he sits in the back on a booster cussion using the cars belts, with a belt adjuster to keep the belt off his neck.

For a while we had a teo piece forward facing seat, the booster is still used. He needed the back support for a while. This was the type that also used the rear belts as restraints.

Now he's just the right size to fall asleep in big comfortable leather buckets after a long day out letting grandad really spoil him.



And oh yes.

Congratualtions, get used to not sleeping.

the mrs wants one of those all in one pram/car seat things tho... anyone used them?

do most things fit in the buckets?

If you use the car every day I would have a seat that stays in the car. That way it stays nice and tight in the bucket. Also, make sure that you try it in the car before you buy cos some wont fit. I got the remains of an old car seat and cut the bottom cushion out of it to pack the dip in the bucket level so that the child seat was a nice fit. Using an old car seat made sure that the packing was as consistent as a normal car seat. It then had a small blanket over it so it didnt look a mess. Its essential that the child seat doesnt move around but you will find that the shape of the seats in the Lotus does help in this respect.
Also, as soon as the nippers old enough get one of those fold up to nothing buggies. That way you can still get a decent amount of luggage in the boot for holidays. The larger, do all, prams are difficult to get thro the boot opening. My advice would be to go to a shop where they will let you see if it will go in the boot.
I moved out of TVRs to the Lotus when my daughter was born. Shes 13 now but still needs a slight amount of packing in the base of the bucket, although she is small for a 13 year old. The Excel was my every day car untill she was about 9 years old and we had many holidays in the car when she was very small.

This is the one we used.



But used the seatbelts in the slots on the bucket to hold the carriers in the rear seat.

The 'bucket chassis' was a bit to high.

Ask the shop to try before you buy.

My daughter has moved from a rear facing seat to a Maxi-cosi Tobi forward facing seat. Anybody got any idea if this will fit or am I going to have to go out and get a new seat?
