Lotus World Record Attempt on January 28 @Brands Hatch Circu

Post by crogw11597 »

Lotus record @ Branshatch

Is any one intending to go to this i think it would be a shame not to have a good showing of Excel’s at any record attempt? I have just expressed an interest at attending on the link below to take my 85 excel down

Lipscomb are pleased to announce that we will be attempting a Guinness World record for the "LARGEST PARADE OF LOTUS CARS" ever on Sunday 28th January 2007 at the Brands Hatch Circuit.
All cars will meet at our new dealership in Aylesford (located on Forstal Road) at 9am for some "Hog Roast" breakfast. Cars will then drive down in convoy to the Brands circuit for a 10/10.30am meet to go through procedures, briefing etc. The attempt for the record will take place around lunchtime.

I only live about a mile from that dealer, so how could I not go??
Trouble is, the car is on SORN at the moment.
I suppose I could tax it, then put in for a refund on the 29th. :)

This is round the corner from me, and it sounds really exciting. I would be gutted to go and then see no Excels there.

Does it count if I take a bit of my car along? The handbrake perhaps?

So - how many Excels in the 313 Lotus cars on the circuit today ? From the photos on SELOC - I can see one white and one red - who were driving and did anyone else make it ?

I think four or five were there. A couple of F reg red ones (one belonging to the guy who runs Club Lotus, I think), a white one and an older car.
Didn't see any Eclats or 70/80s Elites.
There was one of the original Elites though.
I was too tight to tax mine for a day, so went in my everyday car.
