How much fabric to recover all seats?

Post by rbgosling »

Right, time has come to bite the bullet and re-upholster my worn and torn and stained seats (a.k.a. Covid-19 Lockdown Project).

Anyone done this, and know how much fabric is required? I'll measure too, but it'd be good to have some experience to correlate against!

My car is half-leather; I plan to replace the fabric, but re-use the existing leather. For now I'll re-do both front and rear seats; it'd be good to have enough fabric over to re-do the fabric bits of the door cards and rear seat side trim bits, but whether I do that will depend on time / inclination / how bad it looks with not-quite-matching fabric on the doors and the seats.

The fabric is 1.4m wide, and will be coming from Martrim.

Any advice or suggestions welcome!!

So, by my measuring (which I tried to make generous) I need 4.75m to cover all 4 seats, excluding the small patches in the side panels and door panels. But I reckon there will be enough off-cuts to do those too, particularly with the 1.5m fabric width (some others were 1.4m). So I bought 6m, just to be on the safe side.

I'll let you know how we get on, and how much is left over.
