Jacking the rear

Post by Johnwindwood »

Guys
Need to jack the rear of the car one side at a time to change spring/shock. My jacking plates have long since disappeared but I do need to jack under the sill ideally. Where would the rear jack points be? Is it where there is a hole in the glassfibre right near to the wheel? If so, will spreading the load with a block of wood be OK to lift it?
Cheers
Kind regards

John

Yes, that's where the plates would have been, so spreading the load and lifting there is fine (usual caveats about not relying on jacking devices, and to use stands as well), but I'd also suggest putting a second jack under the rear hoop (just behind the diff), and using that to help take the weight, that way the lifting on the side is more about balancing / angling the rear of the car than actually taking the weight. That's just my view.
