Passenger seat runner

Post by Silent78 »

Hi there,
Does anyone have a seat runner they are willing to part with? My passenger seat runner is beyond saving, the bars rusted through on the front and the seat wont move due to being rusted solid.

Many Thanks
Tam

I got a couple in the parts sale a few years ago. I'll probably never use them so they should probably go to save another car or two.

Angus that would be great,
As Im getting through most of the big jobs Im coming up against a lot of daft jobs that need doing, my youngest is sitting in his car seat behind the passenger seat with a foot resting at each side of his mummys head on either side of the head rest haha. She cant pull the seat forward and Im getting grief about it because he keeps kicking her in the head thinking its funny lol

I'll stick 'em in the car with the other stuff for you in a couple of weeks, if that's OK?

That would be great,
Ive plenty more to be getting on with in the meantime. Next weekends job is replacing the metal seat belt supports under the car. Hopefully thats an easy job.

Easy ish job if the old bolts come out. Have a splitter ready. Get new bolts. Plenty of sealant, otherwise you have a water path into the back.

edit - note the brackets should come handed to fit the contour of the body

Thanks Stu,
Thats great advice, i hadnt thought about using sealant to prevent water getting in. Ill be making sure i use it now though.

I used a healthy dose of sealant around the bolts from above and below and then two coats of underseal from the underside (I did the whole of both wheelarches) to seal around the brackets completely. Rear seats stay dry even when driving in a downpour. It doesn't need much of a gap for the water to work its way in.....

Well, if I was right all the time I'd get to be predictable!

Hoping to start this job tomorrow or at least get the back seats removed,
The last two evenings I've put a coat of black hammerite on the metal plates that go under the car. Ill decide tonight if they look like they need another coat. Trying to get as many jobs done as i can before i tackle fitting these door frames in the next couple of weeks. Going to paint all the door beams well i have them off and I'm ordering a can of paint for the door hinges I'm replacing. Hopefully it doesn't turn in to a month long saga, I've been down that road before lol
