Elite/eclat windscreen trim clips

Post by richardw »

I have identified one or two companies who may be able to make these (basically as an extrusion that can be cut to form individual clips). According to the workshop manual, these are riveted in place. The aluminium trim then clips into place. Currently, the trim has to be bonded into place which means they are likely to be scrap if a screen is changed.

I was wondering if anyone thought this might be a viable part to make? Obviously this largely depends on price and quantity, I'd welcome anybody's thoughts.

Thanks, Richard

Club may be able to underwrite production costs.

If you can show me a sample, I may be able to find a producer as well and we can negotiate pricing.

I still haven't removed my screen trim. According to the workshop manual, there are two types of clip. Which ones are we talking about Richard? Are some available and others not? I will be fitting a new screen eventually so this is of interest to me.

Hi Pete,

Neither type is available. I've been working from the drawing in the workshop manual; my next step was to try to find some real examples and talk to potential suppliers. So if you still have the clips on your car that would be fantastic!

Thanks, Richard

I'll see if I can get the trim off next week. Mike T is looking into having the upper and lower trim pieces re-manufactured he says.

Made by the same company that makes the window frames. Same attention to detail and hand crafted.

I haven't forgotten about this - just been busy! I have just removed the top aluminium trim - it was completely bonded in place and I have had to destroy the trim to get it off . Next job is to remove rest of trim and get the screen out - that should expose the clips. Watch this space.

Thanks Pete - I believe the 2 different types are along the bottom anyhow.
