Not sure if I was saved by the Amazon Delivery man who called at the wrong or maybe right time but I was watching the Excel on ebay which was sat at £4211 trying to decide whether to bid or not when he came a knocking.
Hadn't seen the car just the photos and a brief email with the seller.
Parcel wasn't even for me!

I'd think of it as a lucky escape. As much as I love Excels I'd never buy one without seeing it in the flesh

I was watching that too but resisted the urge to bid unseen. Wasn't sure about the Recarro seats either.

Re: Nearly bought another one
I either need to get more bottle, find a car nearer so I can look at it first, expect to pay more or something.
Had discussed with the owner, the red car in Fleet that sold on ebay this evening. Everything seemed fine, interior looked ok, car needed a respray or at the least re-laquering as the laquer was peeling off.
Was wavering with my finger on the button but then the price jumped to £5k and I didn't want to risk that on a car I hadn't seen.
I've either missed a cracking car or had a lucky escape.

Possibly a lucky escape. Heard the blurb didnt match the car

Interesting, it all sounded ok in discussions - mech and int ok, laquer peeling (sheets of it by the sound of it - 40% off roof).
It's always difficult buying unseen, no matter how many photos and discussions. At £3k worth a gamble maybe, much more than that and my back side gets twitchy....That would go for most any purchase not just an Excel.
Onward and upward or something

I did go to look at it, & glad I did. I nearly didn't bother as it was the thick end of 150 miles away, but I was really quite interested in it & would be nervous bidding that kind of money for something unseen. There's a brief description of it in this thread, towards the bottom of page 2
