WTF is supposed to support the windscreen, or protect the driver & passengers if it rolls?

The Esprits which had the top cut off were quite a bit heavier than standard because of all of the extra material to reinforce them, I guess this doesn't (yet) have any of that.

Looks like a TVR cabrio now. Those wheels could be worth a bid to someone nearby.

Assuming the excel still has that roll hoop built in to the Elite/Eclat this must have lost a lot of rigidity. I actually quite like the style and he has blended tha back in nicely, but these kind of projects are always doomed form the outset - the "finishing" jobs like the hood, screen tops and body/interior transition are 99.9% of the project. Taking a saw to the roof is the easy part.

Waste of another nice narrow body IMHO.

its not even half a car, what is missing is more important than what is left, chocolate gear box, rubbish rear suspension and half a 2 litre engine, does it turn over?, do the brakes work/, is the rear cross member of the chassis rusted out?, body off to replace the roll bar, and no worth while spares. let it go where it belongs, the scrap yard

We all know you absolutely love the éclat and elite but this to me looks like an early narrow body excel.
Bonnet is raised and the front and rear bumpers are a flush fit as opposed to projecting out.

Take note people this is what the owner resorted to when he found out window frames were no longer available

had a look at e-bay listing ,no bonnet louvres therefore early excel, so perhaps some of the running gear might be salvage. had another look owner says 1976 couldn't tell if it had dip in the door behind the A post that would contradict the non louvred bonnet. no matter the scappie is the best place for it. also excels did not have head restraints on the back seats.

The interior looks quite similar to the one from my early excel.

I spotted it was similar from the pattern on the material of the Excel rear headrest in the ebay ad.

Only God knows what that Excel is like structurally.

As styling exercise think it's pretty good. I could imagine it being the result of a request from the factory to examine what a soft top Excel would look like. It certainly eclipses some of the tosh William Towns knocked out professionally in his time.
