Mats or carpet??
if you mean mats , my personal view is don't do mats..........i have had my throttle get caught under the mat, and it is amazing how quickly she hits the limiter..............and very scary. I know that lots of people won't agree with me and it is your call but i am sure i'm not the only one it has happened too; and just because you have a limiter doesnt mean you wont cause any damage......IMHO

Re: Interior Mats
As many people here will know, I blew my engine before Christmas due to the mat riding up over the throttle. And the rev limiter definitely NOT kicking in!!!
I have used non-anchored mats in my many (and various) cars for decades. But never, never again. Unless the drivers mat is very firmly anchored somehow to prevent it moving forward, I would strongly advise against using mats in an Excel.

I have to agree..........................very risky, i personally do not think the standard rev limiter is designed to stop a run away engine, but to limit the revs whilst under load.

Re: Interior Mats
Just read this with horror! have now drilled two holes in the rubber mat on drivers side and cable tied it to adjustment rail on the front of the seat - that seems to have sorted it!. As no one else drives the car and the seat is hardly ever moved it shouldn't be a problem. Dont want to remove the mat as the car has fairly new carpets and I want to protect them.

Re: Interior Mats
I have tried it with velcros... It didn't work. The forces from the feet are too much. I think the only choose are these kind of mats fasterners...
