this spare, from witch car or lotus own?

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

If I remember rightly the distributor is a Lucas 43DM4 with a hall effect trigger so what you need is someone who knows their way around Lucas distributors and has a big box of spares.

Mind you, as there are no moving parts it's less likely that the hall effect system is the problem. The usual cause is the extra lead from the amplifier to the distributor (number 025 on the ignition system diagram in the parts manual) as this breaks inside.

Hi.
I thought my distributor is a 45dm4 but i might be wrong, when i tested my faulty one found the pick up was shorting to earth.
I managed to buy just the pickup for about £40.00,just searched the web for Lucas CEi ,found a company who specialise in ignitions for engine swaps but also will supply parts for older lucas etc.
Just wish i could remember the company name, something like A&A or or A&M, as cant find them now, could check my bank statement if i can find it.
Also have you heard of Distributor doctor they might be able to help you.
Think they also were fitted to MGB's with electronic ign.

Best of luck.
Terry

Terry,

Did you manage to find the name of the company you had your pickup from? They seem to be quite hard to get hold of!

Thanks,
Bryan

So, MGBs use the 45 series of dissy (as does my Riley now that I moved from the 25 series) so would this plate not fit?

Brilliant, thank you! :D New ones certainly don't appear to be that common... will try them asap.
