Hi all,
As the weather continues to be a little hot, should the fans stay on when the ignition is switched off as per a "modern" car? (assuming the temperature is in the correct range of course).
Mine doesn't and was just wondering if it should.
thanks
ted

No - there's neither a timer nor a bypass - but I bet you could wire one in via the purge pump sensor if you wanted to.

Re: Fan and Ignition
I don't understand why fans on modern engines stay on after switch off. Is the water pump still running, or the oil pump? What is being cooled? I assume it's just the temperature sender.

There'll be a Clan man along in a minute to explain how electric water pumps make things so much better....

Strange but true...
Yep, no point having the fans on after switch off if the water pump isn't running.
So if you haven't got an EWP then tough!

Re: Fan and Ignition
Thinking about it, it is obvious as the water isn't being pumped around. Why modern cars do is a mystery then...
Thanks

Re: Fan and Ignition
More of them have full EWPs or little 1 amp booster pumps for this purpose especially those with turbos fitted. (eg like audis and VWs).
As well as a Davies Craig 80/ l/min EWP I use a 13 l/min VAG pump to boost the the heater flow on the Clan.
