Have yo considered the Toyota wheels that were used on the early Excels? They look nice, especially if the flat surfaces are polished up and the lines done in black.

i like those but they are only 14" arnt they :?: the bbs ones i like with the centre cap i thought you could get a set with any pcd and redrill the wheels to suit the excel pcd and the centre cap would cover the 8 holes :D

most excels in my price range seem to have the wheels in the pic (15" speedlines???) and i dont really like them too much so i just wondered what an excel would look like with cross spokes on

To have non factory wheels on the excel safely - ie without redrilling alloys which can weaken them, you have to go custom and thats big £££ - RRHANS has a nice set IIRC correctly, its not only the PCD to consider but the offset, and remember the excel was setup for ride and handling with 14/15 wheels, putting bad boy rims on an excel will probably cripple both, as well as potentially looking "tacky".

BUT - despite that the car is yours and you are free to do with it what you like :)

Keep in mind the lower the tyre side-wall height the less warning they give before letting go of the road. A really low profile will grip really well under side force, but then let go in one big lump, and the end of the car will swing out, bigger side walled cars don't have as much grip but let go in a more linear fashion, giving a bit of noise to warn you that you're pushing it a bit hard.

That said, going from 15 to 16 probably isn't much of a difference.

I guess the reason I'm not sure about the BBS ones is the fact Lotus didn't use cross spoke design on the Excel, or even the Elite / Eclat as far as I know.

What about the OZ ones that have 5 spokes (routes?), also used on the Esprit (but in 5 stud design). I think they look really nice.
