Hi,
I've just noticed that one of my HT leads is frayed. I've seen an OE set at "partsjunction" for £16 including postage. Is this a good price or does one of the Lotus specialists do them cheaper?
Also, are OE the best or are 8mm HP ones any better?
Thanks AGAIN!!!!!

Re: Replacing HT leads
The original NGK lotus parts have served me well over the years! I imagine any decent quality part will be ok ...
Re: Replacing HT leads
I'm picking up a set from my local autofactors tomorrow. Bosch for £12.99!
He says they are the same as Ford Capri leads so either they will be totally the wrong fitment or this is another parts alternative.

Re: Replacing HT leads
Errrrrr........it's been cold and I don't have a garage so haven't even fitted them yet
Sorry Guys, I'll update you when I've dragged my lazy carcass out into the cold.

Re: Replacing HT leads
Peter, can you post the BOSCH part. no. for me?
Maybe I will go for a try as my Excel is running quite rough at 3k - 3.5k rpm

Re: Replacing HT leads
At Last.....I've dragged myself out in the cold to replace the HT leads. The Bosch ones seem to be fine and I think she's running a bit smoother and with better response. The Bosch part number is "B868" and they fit Ford Capri's, Granadas and the Isuzu Trooper. Whilst out in the cold I did some testing with my multimeter to find that the electrics to the cooling fans are fine and that both fans are knackered....would someone tell me what fans fit? (I have the SE with two x fans). Also my left headlight has decided to lower fine but has stopped lifting, again the electrics seem fine so I'm assuming I'll need a replacement motor....anyone got one going cheap?
P.S. Aren't the HT leads a bugger to fit with everything in place, I only noticed the bleeding knuckles etc once my hands had warmed up

Re: Replacing HT leads
Fans are Ford parts - Fiesta Mk 1/II seem to go in without any changes - later ones also fit but need some "re-engineering" of wiring due to differences in plugs - more info. in this thread : http://www.lotusexcel.net/phpbb/viewtop ... =27&t=2400

Re: Replacing HT leads
Hi all,
I have replaced mine with the ones recommended by Jerry. Those work fine.
Installing the leads are a bit fiddly but quite OK, maybe my hands are smaller than yours Peter.
