Rear quarter panel trim removal

I need to take mine out to deal with the water ingress issue (and dry them off - they're retaining water) - anyone have any tips / things to watch out for ?

They are hold in place by 2 push-in (or is it pop-in?) rivets. One on the front edge and the other one on the rear, IIRC. Just undo the side nearest to the roll-bar first, then you have to twist / wiggle the panel a bit to get it out. Take care not to damage the top edge of the leather backrest, as I did.

It seems that due to sunlight this part of the leather really tends to crack and tear easily...

Excuse my ignorance - but are we talking about the panels that run from the roll bar cover, down the sides of the rear windows to the rear window shelf

If so - Chris Wrights 'how to replace your head lining@ explaines how to get these panels out perfectly. Called Rear cant rails in his how to. Or am I on the wrong track

DPR's right - it's the leather panel on each side.

You could try taking the speakers out and shoving the business end of Shirl's hairdryer though the hole.

A couple of hours might do.

If you adventurous you could even go for the curling tongs.

The water was coming in through the seatbelt bracket holes - the trimmers must have taken at least one of the mounting bolts out to do the headlining. Stopped off at Mike T.'s on my way down to Amersham a couple of weeks ago and got some replacements (fitted while I waited - now that's service) with liberal filling of silicone (Mike T. is now taking orders for birthday cakes).

All is well at the back - now I need to find my lost replacement door seals to deal with the leak at the front.
