waist trim styles

Hi Y'all - my 84 car has two types of waist trim/ waist band- there is a stepped profile trim fitted to the boot and doors, and a flat sided profile fitted around the nose from doors forward. I see SJS lists two trims and the smooth profile (my nose?) was the later type and the parts manual also lists two types (rounded and square) but the same length (13m) required of each. I am assuming therefore that the cars were supposed to have a single trim style all the way around?... or were the early cars made with two types of trim? The nose section is damaged anyway on my car and although you can get a nice infill with black acetoxy silicone RTV, its not invisible so I will be looking at fitting a new section here but I wanted to make sure I'm fitting the right type?
Also I am guessing this trim probably owes much to Mr Chapman's boat-building connections and I'm guessing that there is more competition in that sector so does anyone know a cheaper source of either/both types? Finally whats the trade name of the adhesive used to fit the strips?
Thanks
Mike
