This one seems to keep coming back, this is the third showing both previous times it "sold"
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1988-LOTUS-EC ... SwRjNXNksT

Following my failure to make contact with the seller of the blue car a few weeks ago.here's another possibility even further away from me.

Anyone know it?

Don't think there were many of those sold, although I presume somebody has figures for the post '86 Excel (not SE, not SA model). Sorry, not encountered it but the reg (HK) is local to Essex where it is now so maybe kit's not moved around much. May be worth contacting Club Lotus Essex and asking if anybody knows it/previously owned it.

Nice collection of tax discs. Interesting to see spare drive belts in with the spare wheel.

don't like it - sorry but - I have a bad feeling about this one, lot's of car related items on his feed back, and I have a feeling that you would be collecting from a travellers caravan site - obviously I could be well wrong but there's something about the pictures which makes me uneasy. (anyone that has tea rings in the table that you use to take pictures on is just not a good enough owner)
but obviously if it's cheap enough!

MOT history looks OK(ish). Not many miles each year and usually something wrong at MOT time, but it's been fixed well enough to pass each time and is MOTed until next year. It's currently SORN so not legal to road test.

Of more concern, to me, is the address on the tax discs not matching the seller's declared location on ebay. Clearly re-using some old photos and now selling from what appears to be a caravan park.

The tax discs for the Guilford address would be for the previous owner's period (current owner had it c2 years). Caravan park images are time stamped June 2014 which ties in to that transfer, so perhaps the ones on the brickweave driveway are more current.

Strange one as all the photos are from when he bought it.
The interior seems ok (dash top etc) and seat an easy repair.
I've decided to butt out however due to the logistics of collection from Clacton on Sea (check it out from Darlington), the fact it's the lower power car (my last one seemed underpowered & it was a 180 I think), and it's silver, boring silver.
Also been "sold" twice recently by the same seller

Don't know where from - the page looks safe to me. Possibly an over-zealous anti-virus/malware program taking offence at some cookies or other trackers on the page ?

Could be, but summert popped up saying about a virus and to "click here to remove virus" I couldn't get rid of it and it stopped me activating my MacAfee security.

Blimey, what are you, Mat - the housekeeping police???!!! Even when you'd pointed them out, it took me ages to see those teacup rings!!

And I'm not sure living on a caravan site excludes someone from owning or selling an Excel. From the pictures it looks quite a smart site to me - possibly, as the vans look the same, even a static holiday caravan park. Though as someone has said, those might be the previous owner's photos anyway.

The car itself doesn't look too bad, even if the mileage is questionable. The greater concern to me would be it having 'sold' twice already. In my experience of eBay, one time-wasting winning bidder is bad luck. More than one, and you start wondering about the product and/or how it's been presented.

I remember once 'winning' a 90's red Fiat Coupe. When I turned-up, every panel was a totally different shade of red, ranging from actual orange, by way of various light, medium & dark reds, through to light pink. Worst fading I'd ever seen, which had been covered-up in the listing through cleverly-doctored photography. When I told him to stick it and took my cash back with me, I got slated as the sixth 'time-waster' who'd let the seller down. Though he did have the decency to then add to the listing - 'very slight fading to a couple of areas'!!

From the photos, though, this Excel looks in reasonable order.

The Photobucket link looks fine to me (same structure as one I'd post to a library on my bucket)

I must admit though Photobucket does pop up a load of strange ad links - not had ad for an anti-virus though.
