Pedals / Pedal Box

Bit of an odd one, but sometimes when I press on one pedal I feel one of the others moving in sympathy. Brake tends to move clutch in the same direction, accelerator tends to move brake/clutch in the opposite.
It doesn't happen every time.
Any thoughts ? Pedal box/pedal pivot problem ? or cheap replacement carpet folding up and turning into a lever ?

what an intelligent car!

it knows that when you press the loud pedal clutch must be fully engaged and the brakes fully disengaged for best results
sorry couldn't resist that.
i cannot find any ref to the pedal box in service notes, if all the pedals moved in the same direction all the time perhaps a spray of wd40 would fix, but , hey, maybe it would anyway. best i can do.

I had the misfortune to have to change a pedal box and I was really surprised how even slightly less than tight bolts made the pedals misbehave. From memory I bought an extra deep 13mm (?) socket off of a popular auction site and used it with a cheap flexible drive. Once tight all was better. I also made a brace between the door hinge mounting bolt and the side of the pedal box. I think later models were built with them, but I added a tie bar to stop the clutch pedal trying to twist the pedal box. That didn't really make any difference!
It's also possible that the weird combination of washers and Thackeray washers on the pedal pivot are causing friction. I find that well aimed squirt of oil on mine makes every thing noticeably better.
