Excel project

Post by biggles001 »

Hi everyone,

Looking for a late Excel SE or Celebration project or something to restore. I initially thought of a complete basket case but not much left of the winter to restore. So would like something that is easy to get on the road for a bit of summer fun then attack the restoration after.

Been to see Lotusbits (Very very helpful - thanks for all the advice) but nothing available at that time.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Hi Steve - please share how you managed to get away without spending money at Mike's!!

Welcome to the forum :D. Try and come along to the Chatsworth meeting - even if you haven't managed to find a car by then.

Pete

Hi,

Seems that the car is sorted or have I missed something? I am looking for a project with work to do. Where are you based?

Cheers

Steve

I am in Germany but several times in UK.

Sorted... this might be a philosophical discuss... could a real Lotus really be sorted ? If so, should it be sorted??

She needs a new paint. And beside the fact that I have invest already a great lot, there is more to be done, to give her the things she needs and bring her back to former glory. The suspension would be next on the list (I have just bought a new set of coil overs which are waiting to be installed), with that also all the bushes (bought most of them too) etc. And still then... a race horse needs more attention than a field horse.

Let me say it in other words: There is a huge amount of work already done, but there is still enough to do, to do every day a bit on her... and/or drive her in the meantime. I have done it in a rolling restoration way. The important mechanical bits first and afterwards the fun bits like suspension etc.

Cheers

Don

Thanks everyone. I have been offered an Excel celebration that needs bringing back to life. So all I need now is time and a workshop manual.

Will certainly be asking more questions

Thanks once again

Steve
