Bonnet Strut Mounting

Post by Dazza_22 »

Can anyone do me a favour and post a pic of the mounting points of the bonnet gas strut?

I have just received a new gas strut from SJ Sportscars and, while it is the right length, the system to attach it to the car is completely different. On closer inspection it appears that my bonnet may have been altered so that a different type of strut could be fitted. If anyone can post a pic or two so that I have a point of reference that would be great.

Thanks

Okay, (double post I know) I've done a bit more research and it seems that I will be able to put the ball joints back in. Anyone have any idea what size they are? I could take them to my local auto store but the weather's bad and ebay is available from my couch!

try lotus bits, they have many excel carcasses so are almost certain to have the OE ball joints and can be reached from your sofa with the help of a telephone. good luck

Not sure of size, but they're the same size as found on a Range Rover Classic tailgate.

Thanks for the advice guys. A bit of rummaging and I found some of the ball joints. Who knew?! Anyway, I think this was the first 'easy fix' I've had on a problem with the Excel.
