Bootlid getting water inbetween

Post by NickC »

Any suggestions how water might be getting inbetween the inner and outer layers of my boot lid.

Don't think it can be getting in by the spoiler holes as they have been off and siliconed a number of times. The only possible gap I can see is the very outside edges of the inner layer but when fitted that is up under the lip at the side so how can water travel up to get in there.

No idea how it gets there, but it is a common problem. Maybe something to do with the strange air pressure zones on the back of the car.

Mine got so bad that I had to replace the lid (managed to get the last one in the factory parts sale a few years ago). I'm told that there is a magic panel bonding substance that might be more of a cure than most regular glues/sealants.
