Tyre Alternatives.

I contacted my tyre supplier regarding the 205/50/15 tyres that are recommended and struck a blank.
The tyres on the car are Khumo 225/50/15 and a replacement for these is available but at a very high price.
The supplier says that I should rather use 195/60/15 which are half the price of the above.
Any thoughts on this, apart from me being a cheapskate.

These are the tyres I last put on the Lotus and I was pleasantly surprised how good they were

and note the price.
If you think the originals are expensive the tyres for my XK8 are £209

a corner and one maker. I have now changed from 17" to 18" rims and now have a choice of 30 odd makers. Regards Keith

I've just had a set of Kumo KH31 205 50 15 fitted, far better than the Avon ZV5 of the same size I had fitted to the other car a couple of years ago.

After a recent puncture I had an Accelera 205/50*15 fitted for around £65 (I believe this is a Vredestein budget tyre). Have no complaints! If you go for a narrower tyre I would have thought a 195/55*15 would have a rolling radius closest to the original 215/50*15s, although I seem to remember someone on here going for 195/60*15s.
