Want to stay on 14" wheels but not many good quality tyres about- Anyone tried Nexens? Would rather get some Bridgestones or Dunlops but can't find them.
Any ideas? Or anyone got any going spare?

Only budget tyres freely available now

Going to give Nexens a go, the Falkens were nothing to write home about

Nexen's are okay. Nankangs are similar.
The only other "brand" name tyre that you will have heard of before that currently do 205 60 14's are Falken.
Occasionally a new old stock Bridgestone or Yokohama S306 are offered, but some people are sniffy about old tyres as the rubber ages if its not stored correctly.
You'll struggle to find VR tyres in this size anymore - you'll be limited to H rated. There is a chinese brand that produces V rated rubber in 205 60 14, but an internet review suggested they were appalling (name escapes me).
personally I'd go for Nexen, Nankang or Falken.
I had Champiro 60's on the back of the eclat V8 for a while, and in truth they weren't that bad - not much difference between them and the Yoko's I replaced them with.

Hello.
Have you seen these tires. I drive myself on Vredestein and am very pleased. Should be available for purchase in the UK, I think.

Love Vredesteins to bits, but they don't have the right size (nearest is 205/70-14)

H rated Falkens and Nexens are available.
How about a 195 60 14, these have better availability. I guess about 20mm lower- anyone tried this?
Or a 195 70 14?

Is that the wrong model or something?

195 /70 will be about an inch bigger in diameter and would be awful in many ways.
195/65 are only available in H, but there are decent makes available and the diam is only 7 mm less.
But I'd go for 195/60/14 (11 mm less in diameter/ about 5.5 mm lower ride height) 'cos Mich and Conti do them in a V rating and you will gain slightly in accelleration / in gear flexibility which is good - maybe exhaust issues with some speed bumps though..
Excels with 205/50/15 work well on the smaller diameter, so 195/60/14 would be an equivalent change for the 14 inch wheeled Excels/Elites/Eclats.
