Belts, Plugs, Filters, Fuels, Oils, additives etc..... Told you this might morph into servicing and service items.

Work needed in Cumbria, Axle, Handbrake. Where to go.?

Post by redrob666 »

I have just located my old Éclat with the help of forum members but unfortunately it is off the road due to a blown axle oil seal and poor handbrake function. I have passed on buying it back but am just wondering where I could get the work done and at approximately what cost? It would need to be relatively close to Carlisle in North Cumbria. If I can get work done locally then I may get back in touch and see if we could get a deal going as I would really like to own that car again. Hope you can help again. Bob.

Thanks for that. I think they would be near enough to not cost too much for transport. How do I contact them, do you have a number? Quick google seems to be bringing up lots of BBS wheel people!

Thanks a lot. I will try to give them a call tomorrow and see if they can give me an idea of possible costs for replacing the axle oil seals. I can then contact the current owner of my old car and maybe do a deal. Hope so, thanks again, Bob.

Having had a chance to think about this car I have decided that I am not meant to have it back. It has been off the road for a while and is likely to cost me a lot to get it back on the road and MOTd. I do not have the time or skills to take on a project like this so will be looking for something else. Thanks for all the help and I hope to rejoin the Lotus family soon though I have no idea what I could end up with.

Have a look at fidget's post in the General section. Bargain to be had there, I reckon.

Problem is its a project. I may as well get my old car back and do what's needed on it. I wonder if the current owner could get the work done local to him. He said there are a lot of the cars within a few miles so may be a specialist too.
