Interior light

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

Interior light

Post by Redlotus »

Hi
The interior light has suddenly decided to stop on when the doors are shut. Switch in correct position. Had a play/fiddle with the door switches but no change. Is there any other electro-gimmickry involved in the circuit?

There's a delay unit in the relay cluster so that the lights stay on for about 30 seconds after the last door is closed - and a switch on each of the interior lamps (there are two) which sets it to door activated, off or permanently on.

Did the flat black button on the door trim fall off? Needs to be there to trip the switch

If it is the delay unit, it is available from Rimmer Bros. Fits a Rover of some type - maybe SD1. Can't remember. Google the number and it should come up with it. Not cheap mind.

Thanks for the response. Sods law, took car to work today and its working fine again. Switches and the black buttons look ok and do what they should so I am thinking the delay may be temperamental. One to keep an eye on as I down want a flat battery this time of year.
