window switch illumination

My drivers side switches don't light up, what i'd like to know is if the illumination is user replaceable or is the only solution a switch with working illumination?! (which if second hand cannot be guaranteed to last any length of time) I can't find anything in the handbook relating to a bulb fitment?!

If the illumination is provided by fibre optics, then the only option is to replace the switch. I recall these are sourced from the Montego model and I had the optics go on both of the Montegos I owned  in the 1980's (the MG was good though).

yup, had a look today when i took the drivers door card off to feed the leather + replace the tired speaker, the terminals are mounted on a push in board, that is held into place with 4 plastic clips, two on each side, unfortunately you need to an octopus to get it off, I believe you are right, they'll be fibre optic sourced....will give mike T a ring on Monday, need to order some other bits and pieces.

I've had a look around there don't seem to be many sources of these switches at all..as 2 out of 3 are gone i'd happily go with the standard montego ones...perhaps time to source an equivalent part....:S...
