Lotus Excel

Hi All,

I'm looking for a lotus excel, Not overly fussed over it being a SE model but would be nice. Only after a manual.

Would like it to be the last model revision 89-?, but would consider anything 85 - onwards.

Would like it to have cream leather and be in calypso red or pacific blue

doesn't need to be showroom, but will be a daily driver so can't really afford for it to require work.

I will consider any nice examples as i realise i may not be able to get the above, at least in my price range!

looking around the £3-5k mark.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the link, i've spied your car for sale a few weeks ago, it is lovely but unfortunately (horrific crime i know) I don't like the colour on the excel :(

Good luck with the sale though!

:)

Pity you're not near to North Yorkshire you could have had a look at mine.

89SE calypso red low miles (57K) full sand leather ALWAYS garaged (important) 2 previous owners mine since 39k miles ALL MOTS available to verify mileage.
A1 condition original paint..not your usual tatt with sagging head lining, ripped seats etc

Sensible mods only:
Davies Craig electric water pump with anti heat-soak feature (as std water pump will leak and fail at some point especially if not used too often as on a low mileage car)
Manual steering rack fitted (PAS rack and pump available to refit) ,,personal choice as I wanted to get maximum performance from engine..no PAS and no AIR con and no belt driven water pump = a faster SE!
Full custom stainless exhaust (zero miles)

not still thinking of selling it? - Admittedly with a car in yours condition i might feel guilty putting lots of miles on it, and I don't have a garage :(.....but at least it would be enjoyed daily. and it is the right colour :D

This is the problem...I don't use it much and it's not being used this winter (on a SORN until March) except an occasional warm-up and a run down the drive and back. and i do keep umming and ahring about selling. i could easily sink all the money into motorsport with the Clan,,,

Hmm Excels seem to be like buses at the moment for me!

Was taking Mr Cool's advice and checking out lotusbits and found this

http://www.lotusbits.com/excel_red_sale.html

but also could buy lotus-e-clan's car if he still wants to sell it come march... still leaning towards lotus-e-clan's car tho :)

from the green one at pistonheads

"I went to the Ace Cafe in June for the Classic Cars monthly meet and Ross described the car as "immaculate". "

thats true, as long as nobody looks underneath. nice willwood brakes but a complete dirty and rusty front suspension!!

refering on the asking price i must say: All show and no substance!!

thats a little harsh micha!

its not professing to be a concours car, and unless its a trolley dolly for shows it is impossible to keep a road going car immaculate underneath! (unless you only drive it in the very dry and dismantle it for cleaning afterwards)

Texas' car is fantastic, but as stated before the colour is just not for me, and seen as this is likely to be my one and only "fun" car, i'd like to hold out for what i REALLY want rather than compramise.

Rich don't take the bait...

Micha has "form"

He's lurked around various car forums for years taking "pop shots" every now and again.

No one need take his caustic comments to heart.

I'm sure Texas won't once he realises who he is.

In fact he's almost a celeb!
