I know this has been discussed numerous times before but one last try to see what level of support we can generate for this and what sort of bulk purchase we can arrange.
As we all know 215/5- 15s are no longer available, therefore the next best option is to replace our standard wheels with 17" rims for which 215's are available.
Shall we start with a target of say £1000 for a set of wheels and tyres? Do we have enough interest to see what suppliers would give us a suitable bulk purchase deal?
Message also copied to the other forum for maximum coverage.

Re: Replacement wheels and tyres
Sorry i have just bought new wheels for my car and they are 15s, i am very happy with the 215-45s on the front and the 225-50s on the back and they do me fine, and the whole lot imcluding Toyos way less than £1000

205/50/15 all round suit the car and are readily available so I'm in no hurry to spend £1k for no particular reason. sorry

Re: Replacement wheels and tyres
There is no way I would go for 17" wheels on the Excel. These would compromise ride comfort for me. I am on 205/50*15 tyres and these work perfectly as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Replacement wheels and tyres
I ordered 16x7 graphite konig rewinds in the US, it was a big job to find wheels with an acceptable offset & correct pcd.
There was plenty of choice on paper but no one has stock and their minimum order is 5 sets with their supplier.

I didn't find what I want in Europe except at a high price.
I will keep you informed on progress and post pictures.
I will put 225 40 16 on them and the total cost should end up around 1000£

Re: Replacement wheels and tyres
I think that 225s on the front may give you issues with the tyres rubbing on either the ARB or the inside of the arch on lock, i think there are some posts on the forum about that. But at least the 225 40s give a reasonable depth of rubber.
Have you looked at Mike Taylor's site with regrds to his selling of Compomotives, he might get you the size you want with a reasonable offset. (like mine above)

Re: Replacement wheels and tyres
I have looked at Mike Taylor site but he only has 15", since I will be refurb the original & 15" wheels I wanted 16" which makes it easier to find tyres too.
17" might be perfect for trackdays but for everyday driving........?????
Wheel clearance might be an issue on the front.
Wheel is 8 mm more to the outside of the car due to 0 offset so ARB should not be a problem
225 is 10 mm wider than 215 but also 10 mm smaller in diameter so the diagonal difference is 0
I will only have to check the situation at the wheelarches on full lock.
If I have more than 8 mm to spare + safety margin of 1 cm then its ok
If not OK then I will fit 205 45 16 on front.

Re: Replacement wheels and tyres
As mike gets his wheels made at Compomotive he may well be able to supply the size you want??
Other than that it looks as though you have researched well
