Greetings, Hi Im Dave, had my Excel for a couple of years now. Started attacking the interior. Leathers looking good so far. However I'm struggling with the dash & surround, I can not see how to remove it. I've just requested the parts manual, hopefully that will provide some assistance. Anyway any advice would be welcome. Many thanks

Hi all trying to renovate my tired interior (Excel87), have completed most of the leather.

I am struggling big time removing the dash. Left & right sides are free & mobile but the centre area will not shift & I have removed the centre screw fixing at the top of the dash, have I missed something? I would be so grateful for some advice.

Have you removed the centre console screws etc. If you get access to the online parts manual it will help enourmously. I did this job last year its not as bad as it looks.

Dave see your PM I have sent a reply. I think its your Pulsert, M6, Binacle to Centre console Sec 14.05B parts manual.

There are three M6 studs below the front edge of the binacle (nearest the bottom of the windscreen and attached to the binacle itself). The nut on the stud nearest the centre-line of the car is really hard to get to if the "climate control" panel is still in. Have a look there.

Thank you all for your help. Got the three at the top including the well hidden bugger. But please how do you deal with the Pulsert M6 before I loose my sanity lol. CHEERS

Dave
Removal as I remember was quite easy as you just unscrew using the extension tube. The bugger is getting it back in place. Mine is now in my box of Lotus bits in the garage.

Greeting and cheers Wayne. I've tried unscrewing via the tube but it is so
soft that it just folds on itself, unless I'm missing something. I have even tried
sliding a tight fitting alan key to turn without success.

So that's what a Pulsert M6 is!! Now I know which bit you're having trouble with. If it doesn't come undone with the bit of tube (what a rediculous design) the only way is to remove the dash and binacle together I would think - you can then turn it upside down to work on it.

Hi all, what fum I've had. The pulsert wouldn't play so it said hello to a hack saw & is now no more; what a bizarre fixing. Anyway dash is almost out, just the air vent on drivers side to disconnect. Again thankyou all so much for your assistance. Hopefully on the road by the end of July, keep fingers crossed.
