Hi all

Mmmmmm- these cars seem to have only a limited market don't they?

Off and on (on a casual basis- honestly) I've been advertising my 89 model- there's been only a "limited" response shall we say. To be honest I've been dithering over selling it as I'd be parting with something that'd be pretty hard to replace/better in my view.

Enough of the wistfulness- keeping something I nowadays use very little isn't a good idea and I've always held the view that cars are for using rather than filling a space on the driveway.

So- details.

It's a 89 model but not a SE (the factory confirms the spec).
Colour is the best in my opinion for the shape (Silver Frost) with half blue leather.
During the 9 years I've owned it I've increased the mileage from 42000 to 63000.
Jobs I personally have done- in no order-

Headlining
Water pump
Heater motor
Windscreen Motor
Front brake overhaul (caliper seals, hoses, pads, discs etc)
Re-carpet in blue
Uprated cooling fans
Deadlocks to both doors
Hydraulic brake immobiliser
Two galvanised door beams modified for grease nipples plus two new pins and new bushes.
Completely stripped and repainted door frames
Brand new ignition system (Lumenition)
Rebuilt carbs
Modified air intake system to provide cold air to carbs
Partial repaint after reprofiling the doors for flush fitting/gapping
Re-trimmed front screen pillars
Fitted two brand new mirrors plus a control switch
Jobs I've had done-

New front screen
New stainless downpipe plus modern type flexible joint
New clutch (about 10000 miles ago)

Interior is as new with no damage scuffing etc.
Car does not leak water into the cabin
Tyres are matching quarter worn

This car is unusual because it has never been "got at" by the enthusiastic but untalented ie it's never been b******d up.

I'm 3rd owner. Its genuinely a "turn key" car, everything works as it should.

Price is £5000 firm- cheap for what it is. I'm shall we say, an older owner, long past the heavy right foot stage so I've tended to use it lightly and carefully (I don't like paying repair bills). This is the 4th only Lotus I've ever owned- I still have the sprint I bought 31 years ago so I'm not the type who buys/sells on a whim.

Photos available if you wish. Ring me on 0151 480 8400 or e-mail on jmb2@blueyonder.co.uk

Trouble is where have you been advertising? I would imagine most people here have one already. Car & Classic or Pistonheads are free to advertise and personally I have had good results especially with the latter.

Not sure if you're allowed to advertise or sell the car at the Club Lotus event coming up at Donnington (April 18/19) but at least you know the audience there are all Lotus fans, and you might attract the attention of someone trading down (up?) from an Esprit, older Lotus, etc.
Same goes for the classifieds in the Club Lotus magazine.
