Take them out, pull out the bulb holders and stick them in the airing cupboard ... or, put your side lights on and leave a battery charger connected ... the heat from the bulb will probably dry them out.

Mine does this if left for a while without being use .. regular use should sort it ...

Nice tip to remove the moisture behind the glass Steve!

On the subject of VDO gauges, the backlighting in my voltmeter has failed, presumably the bulb has blown. Which is the best way to replace the bulb?

1) Adopt the Lotus position in the footwell and somehow get my arm up the back of the dashboard. Lots of inward pointing self tappers and sharp edges to mutilate yourself on, I'm guessing. Still, if needs must...

or

2) Is it possible to remove the voltmeter from the front without disturbing the speedo cable, other instruments, etc. by removing the veneer panel and the panel beneath it? It's not clear from the parts list how the instruments are secured.

Really easy bryan undo the 4 screws securing the wooden facia panel and remove then undo the four screws securing the instrument panel, then under the bonnet release the speedo cable from the small plastic clip that holds it in position to give you more slack, then pull the instrument panel towards you so that you can put your hand behind and unscrew the speedo cable then you can remove the whole instrument panel . Its a bit of a fiddle but easy hope this helps

Thanks for that Gary, much appreciated. It doesn't sound too painful either!
