HELP REAR SHOCKS NEEDED/ ADVICE

wanted rear shocks. Before everyone tells me i know mike at lotus bits has them but i just wondered if anyone else has got some. i have also seen the ones on e bay but thier model years dont seem right for excel and mine is outside the years that they give any way (86). if anyone can give help, advice, alternatives etc it would be very much appreciated. thanks

I have some Proteks from SJS on mine - they work well. Good price and very adjustable.

Same here, I have Proteks all round, with SJS own springs. I have been fiddling recently and if you do go this way you need to set them at setting 7 or 8, anything less is just too soft (and once in the adjuster knobs on the fronts are not that easily reached).

I think the shocks are the same for all model years, although the spring rates did change on the later cars. Having said that SJS only supply one rate of spring (that of the later cars). When I discussed this with them they advised me that they had sent a set of the earlier springs off for evaluation, but the rates were so similar they decided not to bother with producing a second set for the earlier cars, but if you really want them will order from Lotus (at about 3x the cost :shock: ).

now got some from mike at lotus bits. needed them badly so collected and fitted same day. the old one on the n/s had completely broke off at the bottom.
