Changing door mirrors (through glass)

I am in the process of doing various bits to my Excel and have come to the door mirrors. I have a new cover for the left hand mirror and an entire new mirror for the right.

I am rather concerned about the possibility of cracking the quarter lights either in removal or replacement of the mirrors. Does anyone have any tips to avoid this, as I understand the quarter light glass to be virtually unobtainable now.

Many Thanks

John

hi had both my mirrors off no problem. but when putting them back, over tightened one and broke the glass so watch that. new glass is available but are quite pricey for what they are lotus bits have got new and secondhand ones.

Yep about the sum of it. There is rubber on each side of the glass so I'd suggest that you tighten it up just enough for it to grip.

I was worried about this too so took note of how tight the original was when I undid it (it was not very tight at all) so I left the new one pretty loose. This was last year and it is fine to date.
