Lotus 60th : update

I replied to Lotus re the Public Liability and lack of display space issues and here's the response. My problem with it is that this is a FACTORY event and NOT a clubs' event. Since they will be profiting from it, they should be covering insurance.
We do not have the funds to take out PL for a one-off event, and if we take it out at all, we get into all sorts of issues surrounding liability in the future - which could lead us down the horrible path to formation of a company ltd. by guarantee (which always seems to lead to the death of any goodwill in a club) etc. etc. etc. .
"I have checked with our Insurance manager and unfortunately you would need Public Liability Insurance. Last year you will remember that none of the Clubs wanted to pay for their marquee hire which would have solved this problem - hence we put the clubs under cover.
Due to the comments received, clubs wanted to be outside - so we have accommodated this point this year and allowed the clubs to bring their own marquees etc - unfortunately this means that the clubs are liable for insurance for the same - especially where the public is involved.
With regards to displaying two cars only - again last year we were told that not all clubs were invited and this upset some of the European and ROW clubs. We have therefore decided to invite all Lotus associated clubs this year - but of course this means we have to limit space as we can only cater for a maximum number. We guessed displaying two cars was better than none. Looks like no matter how hard the Team try - we cannot please everyone.
I hope you can see from above why we have made the decisions we have, and perhaps your forum will be a little kinder to us ! "
On the display cars issue - I'm going to suggest that they try to reserve specific areas of the car park for convoy arrivals.
Feel free to add to the discussion/debate.
