Can anyone point me in the right direction where to look for the central-door-lock unit and it's fuse?

My mate re-opened the pass.door when I was locking the car, now the CDL stopped working...

Hmm, I think at least the latter ones have it as standard. Or is it an SE only feature ?

I've never found a "control" module for the central locking - just the actuators in the doors themselves - I can't even see a module in the parts manual - isn't it just done by some clever cross-wiring between the two actuators ?

Parts manual also suggests that CDL is present on all cars - but that actuators changed from VIN 2350. I know that many have had it disconnected because of the "hunting" problem when the rods are out of adjustment though...

My '87 SE has CDL and I have tried to repeat your problem, but mine keeps on working ok with no problems. Mine is connected also to the Cobra alarm system so it can work off the remote fob, maybe this is why it does not fail in the same way as your does? Who knows?
I'll keep trying to mess it up so we can get an answer.

Mine is definitely factory fitted. Just still cannot believe it's not controlled by a central unit, as it is (well was) working from both sides and not just a repeater. Anyway, can anyone help me with the location of the fuse? From the manual it is supposed to be in the drivers footwell (LHD) and has 4A - I am just too dumb to find it...

OK, finally found the fuse for the CDL. It's hidden in the left footwell. You have to remove the cardboard kickpanel to access it. It is just above the Ice warning unit. As I assumed the 4A fuse was blown, so I replaced it. As the 2nd and 3rd fuses also melted immediately, I removed the door panels and checked CDL units. Although everything was well sealed with silicone, water ingressed from the top and the connectors are corroded badly

So I removed the CDL actuator and cleaned up the inner mechanism, removed corrosion on the copper parts and lubed everything

the actuators I know, work with a control unit and use only 2 wires.

The Lotus ones are wired directly and use 3-4 wires.

Here is a pic of the window winder motor, if anyone cares:
