Headlining - I've started

Post by dpr59 »

Surprised at how it's fitted in the first place on a car that cost £25K new.
B & C pillars along with role cage cover with double sided tape...

And how little there is in the sun visors, no wonder mine had collapsed

Still it's all out now, new ready to go in. Including the sunroof.
Once decent sealers used to refit that's another water ingress issue resolved. Although I guest Micha would suggest fill the hole instead.

Does anyone know suppliers of Tilt & Slide sunroofs, while I've got it in bits could be an upgrade time.

Hi, not sure if you'll get away with a tilt and slide sunroof due to the fact that there's a roll bar right where you'd need to put the sunroof cassette.

When you bond the headlining up make sure you use a high temperature bond contact adhesive if not it'll just fall straight back down as soon as the sun comes out..! I'd use the same adhesive to trim the roll bar cant rails etc as well. It's much better than sticky tape.

Steve.

Nothing wrong with Webasto roofs, we've got a Bentley in our workshop at the moment with a Hollandia Webasto roof in it and it's a quality product. I had no idea they made a tilt and slide sunroof that slides above the roof. Will they fit it for you?

I have a hollandia 300, it is certainly a quality product. But your fitter needs to know what he/she is doing, or they can crack the surround (fiberglass doesn't have the same "give" as steel, apparently).Mine leaked initially because of this, all sorted when I took it back.

If you're tall you will lose a bit of headroom.

Some pics in my gallery (about half way down) at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~robert. ... llery.html

... and at least you can't be overcome by fumes from the glue with such a big hole in the roof :D

Luckily neither you nor Sue smokes! It's looking very good Dave. When do you plan on putting in the new sunroof?

Going to phone for a price tomorrow, there's a local distributor.
Then it's down to how much I'm (sorry we're) willing to spend and also looking at Robs' pictures it does take uo some headroom. Probably more than the current one.

Damn can't have one.

Not financial, not availability.
It's because of the current sunroof being in a larger hole than the webasto requires. Damn.

Yes, the lot came from woolies, delivered the next day.
Top class service.

The thing that surprised me when I removed the rear section from the roof was....

The foam was still glued to the roof. It was the coloured covering that had seperated from the foam. It looked like a hammock in the end.
