Dash lights

Having removed my CD player as it stopped playing these, I no longer have any dash lights. Having done a search i seem to have disconnected the feed to the reostat. This is visible and i can move it about but have no idea how it connects to the back of the reostat? I removed the trim from the air vents but there is no obvious access

The front of the reostat just clips on but how can i access the back of it to clip on the feed wires? (1988 SE)
TIA

Having made the time to investigate this problem in the day-light i have worked out the problem with my dash lights. I had pulled out the set of wires to the Rheostat by accident and these must have blown the fuse by touching the metal frame near the radio housing. Having used logic and buying a multi meter i still could not get the lights too work and the fuses seemed all wrong? Turns out that the 'Hand built' nature of Lotus includes bolting the fuse box in upside down!!! Easy to spot once you know

Anyway all working now.
Thanks to Robery Verhey too for his suggestions
