Lighting up?

Is this the correct sequence for the operation of the headlights?
The only reason I ask, is it's different on the way up to on the way back down and is different to the owners handbook.

Off
Posn. 1 - Nothing
Posn. 2 - Sidelights, headlights up and on dim dip.
Posn. 3 - Sidelights, standard dipped headlights.
Push stalk forward - Sidelights and main beam.

Then...

Pull back stalk - (Posn. 3) Back to sidelights and dipped headlights.
Posn. 2 - Sidelights, dim dip headlights.
Posn. 1 - Sidelights, headlights up but no lights on.
Off - Light units go down.

Posn. 1 seems to be the problem area if there is a problem.
I have quickly checked for a bad earth connection just in case my '87 excel did not have a dim dip. (Seems OK)
However, could it be the switch itself?
It repeats time after time the same sequence with no abnormal pattern.

Thanks Karl

No problem.

Pos 1 keeps the pods up and lights off for cleaning.

Sidelights shouldn't be on in position 1.

I'll try and dry the sidelight cases out and reseal them and see if this makes a difference, with the amount of water we have in Tewkesbury at the moment some may have got into the electrics.

Thanks Karl
