Fan fail light
My fan fail light is staying on all the time, both fans cut in at the right time and the header tank is filled up to the top and it is not losing coolant, i have no problem with it over heating. Could it be a dodgy connection?

Check the light delay module - it could be full of water......

Is the light delay module under the steering column? I lost all indicators at the weekend and found the relay was full of water! A quick wipe out with kitchen roll and a scrape of the bi-metalic strip, all sealed up with Duck Tape rectified the problem. I think the water may be coming in through the gromit around the windscreen wiper.

Yup - tis indeed - there are two big modules under there -the Yellow one is the courtesy light delay and the Orange one should be the fan warning light delay.
While you're in there, check the relays for starter motor, rad. fans and heater fans - they're on the bottom of the slope in the outermost (i.e. wing side) row.
Earlier cars had the relays in different places.....

Cathy - if you didn't empty all the relays, it could still be water causing corrosion.....

The two wires sounds about right. For a fault like this, my suspects would be (in order) :
i) delay module
ii) rad fan relay (second from rear)
iii) sensor
iv) rad fan switch (in the top hose)
v) aliens!
i) & ii) mainly because corrosion could set in allowing the fans to come on, but causing high resistance to still trigger the warning light,
Also, I've noticed that my fan light comes on if I've done some serious driving and stopped briefly to refuel (serious = > 100 miles) because the header tank contents have gone over to the pressurised overflow tank instead.

Thanks for that, i will go through the check list but i'm tempted to think it could be aliens! I have noticed that this has been happening for a while, it wasn't coming on when the coolant level was slightly low and then i topped it up and went on a good 50 mile run and it has stayed on ever since. Gremlins!
