Hello all,
I've found a headlining material that matches the colour I need and has 2mm foam backing WITHOUT scrim, just the foam. Is it still possible to use it? If it's important, I'm going to use the "make 2 large plastic panels for the roof sections" method for it.
I can't easily get to Lotusbits for their trim (and they don't post) and this is the best match I've found.
Thanks,
Dan

Yes you can use it. I think 3mm is the normal thickness of original. So 2mm may show any imperfections in the roof more.
It doesn’t have to have the slight fabric “scrim” back, and this is what you will get if you order from SJ
Having done the job with both types, I would not choose to do it again without that fabric scrim backing.

The glue will react with the foam in time and make a real mess from my experience.

Don't Carbuilder have some suitable material they would post to you?
Where abouts in the country are you, Dan? I'll be going to Lotusbits on 19 Aug, so perhaps I could collect for you, then you could collect from me, if you're not far away. My office is in GU16 6 postcode.

Very kind of you to offer Tony, but I'm about 3hours away in Norfolk, I'll have a look at Carbuilder solutions. I do have a sample on the way from Lotusbits anyway. If needs be I'll just make a day trip of it, see if there are any other bits I can pick up/get a service while I'm there.
