The Lotus Grand Tourers

Hi all,

I was removing the driver's side door card for the first time over the weekend and had to disconnect the electric window control switches. When I looked at one of the plugs, before disconnecting it, half of the plastic casing was missing. I'm trying to identify the make/type of the plug so I can replace it. Does anyone know what it might be or how to find out? I guess the alternative might be to inject some sealant or paste of some kind that will go hard as an alternative, but I would rather not do that. But really, trying to keep things original if I can.

The switches are Torrix and also used on Citroen, Peugeot, Fiat and Alfa of the period. There were 2 versions with initially 5 and later 6 contacts.

Thanks Alan, so is the connector a Torrix too? It is only the loom connector that I am trying to get, not the switch itself, which works perfectly. Also this connector only has 4 spades in it, which doesn't quite marry up with what you said above, unless I have misunderstood.

This is the 6 pin version. My 87 and 85 had the 5 pin which doesn’t have the single pin at 90 degrees to the others

Does your switch look like this, or has it been replaced with something else? Parts list only mentions the 5 and 6 contact switches for the Excel.

Are you sure that's not the feed to the mirror? I can just make out the 3 pin plug that also feeds mirot in the background.

I thought it would all be one assembly, but looking in my parts manual, I see it is all separate. Yes it is one of the feeds to the mirror switch. Part A082M6503F if I have decoded the part list correctly for my 89 VIN number. Any thoughts on the make of connector would be great - would prefer to replace with original or have a good repair solution.

Rists used to make the harnesses. A company called 3 Way Components still appear to offer some components and may be able to help.
