Colour match

I have paint damage on the roof and boot. The rest of the car is ok. I don't want to spend £4k on a re-spray that Lotus Bits quoted me. People keep telling me (not people with car knowledge) that you can get paint matched like you see in the b&q advert where they scan random items and produce the exact colour paint, they say Ed China did it on TV apparently!

I've been to a couple of car body places and they say they cant dont that. Some on-line say they can match it to many thousands of different colours. Does anyone know if it is possible to produce paint to exactly match to a faded paint colour?

Yep.
You need to find a company that can scan to match. It's not car body places you need, it's paint suppliers, and not all will have that option. Most car body places would look to use the paint code, and order to match that, so that's why you're getting the response that you are.

I went to a paint supplies place in Durham who claimed to be able to match paint against a car's existing paint shade. The lady co-owner used a spectrometer type device on my cars boot lid then mixed an aerosol for me. The match wasn't very good at all.

You can just get the roof & boot resprayed I use RSI in Grantham do a brill job & match.Any decent Paint repair shop should be able to do it ...Ray
