Hi
Anyone know what the battery cover looked like on the earliest S1 Elites (1974)?
I got a carpet covered plywood box from Lotusbits ( Rubber hook on the back rear and a flap hinged to the front with a stud to hold closed (if it was all there!)), but now I've come across a line drawing of a cover and it looks to be a simple box, with the opening on the rear ( to hold the jack presumably). Also read something in an old road test that the top heavy battery box cover kept falling forwards, which suggests to me the variant with a rubber hook was a development to solve a problem ?
The same line drawing shows a box for the near side, but I've no idea what that would be covering. It sits above the boot floor line, so Fuel pump and wiper motor are underneath it.
Any information appreciated
Tony

What goes together.... Must come apart.

Talking of batteries, my old éclat battery was under the engine bay but most seem to be in the boot like elites. Was there a change over point/date?

I believe all Eclats had the battery under the bonnet, whereas the Elites had it in the boot.CHRISYD wrote:Talking of batteries, my old éclat battery was under the engine bay but most seem to be in the boot like elites. Was there a change over point/date?
