First time I did it involved hours of misery - best way is from the lotus position in drivers foot-well - unhook the throttle return spring and there is just room to push your arm up and hook it in - you can move the pedal with the other hand to assist. You need to get the cable on the correct side of the pedal lever first which is the left side looking from the drivers seat. It may be helpful to remove the instrument panel but not essential. The ball goes in a hole on the left so you have to loop the cable and bend it to get it in. Enjoy!!!
