Hi all,
I have a 40,000 mile Excel for sale, it is in really good genuine condition half leather serviced etc is anyone here interested, I have been looking at what is being offered in the market place and I have found nothing else with low mileage so pricing it is difficult but I guess a fair value should be around£12,000 but I am open to offers

Mine was a genuine documented 32K miles when I bought it and it only cost me £6500 ....that was 17 years ago mind.

Low mileage is an important factor within the first ten years of life for sure. But after more than 25 years since the last Excels were born...it's no longer about mileage ...it's 'time' that does the damage so a degree of resto is inevitable even for original low mileage cars at this point in their history. Seals dry out and crack, windows leak, HGs rot, glued trim sags, door beams continue to rot away even when the not used.

For any Excel, these day's I'd rather have a fully documented 'storage history' rather than a service history tbh. Few are properly dry-stored throughout their life. Also there's the question of excessive oil drain during inactive periods on low mileage cars ... and the starter speed alone will not pressurise a 912 engine so infrequent start-ups add to the potential for trouble.

That said, to be fair, as ever, if it stands proper scrutiny by an experienced, seasoned, Excel expert then £12K for a perfect example might be about right...but it would have to be perfect... and of course if its value does hinge only on low-mileage then you can't use it without losing a chunk of your money....so it has to be more about condition now... low-mileage is just the 'sweetener' at this point in the game.
