Re: Donington 2009
Thankyou chaps. Rojo and texass2201 have done a great job with the "gearbox and queerbox" cars for this year.

Re: Donington 2009
Stand looked very good

We even had an Excel cake thanks to Rogers wife

The guy parked next to me in the car park had just purchased his Excel 19 hours earlier and driven it down from Scotland - now thats confidence!
Mines the red one

This engine was in an Eclat

That's me that is. Good to meet you
Its going back home with me to Scotland, bought it in Wetherby from Pure Lotus, nothing but praise for Jay, very good to deal with - a proper Lotus enthusiast. His mechanic has checked over the car as best as he can with the small amount of time I gave them, I'm just an impatient sort of bloke, and changed one or two perished rubbery bits - exhaust mountings, carb balancing tubes ( I think that's what they are, stop me if I'm wrong) but really I've bought the car 'as seen'.
Picked it up Friday afternoon, a bit of a drive around to satisfy myself that it would be OK for a longer trip. Leeds-Donington-Leeds on Sat, Leeds-Silverstone-Leeds on Sunday and then Home to the Highlands on Monday. The car had only done 250 miles since May 2006 and I'm doing 900 this weekend.
If anything goes wrong I'm going to blame Nick Adams, he told me the Excel is the best car Lotus ever made.

just keep an eye on the front water pump bearing seal...there is a weep hole under the nose of the water pump just behind the pulley. If the engine has sat for a long time the seals can stick/dry-up and fail more quickly....small leaks will evaporate without a noticeable drip (will be OK for a good while therefore).

Re: Donington 2009
Phil,
Just unloaded the car after Donington, and find that I have a Lotus calender in the boot.
I think it belongs to son Luke, or his mate. I remember one of them asking if I would put it into my car for safe keeping. If you let me know an address I can post it on.
Nice to meet you again, and great photo's, all the best. Roger.

Re: Donington 2009
Well done to everyone for the stand. Sorry I couldn't help as I was engaged elsewhere (thanks Phil!)
Best quote re Evora was as a lady got out she said "It's not as easy as the Excel".
Overall the Evora was well received judging by the comments and leads we got. Press are driving it very soon.

Ah, but will they fit their youngsters in the back seats? Alan, sorry I missed you this time. It was a very enjoyable show and great to see so many of the forum again. Cheers, Chris
