Thanks, will follow your progress with interest.
Must admit, having a little experience of correx through work, I have my doubts if it will be sturdy enough to stay in place without buckling (especially in just 2mm thickness). But it may do. And I definitely agree side-to-side for the ribs!
I also wonder, bearing in mind the fabric (which as we know is quite stretchy) still has to be glued on, whether in time it still might come unstuck from the correx and droop down? Given that the two of the main causes of the problem seem to be gravity and extremes of temperature.
The most durable Excel roof lining I've experienced was on my SA, where the previous owner had covered two pieces of thin hardboard with magnolia leathercloth, and all the roof rails to match. Far as I could tell, the flat panels were just held in place by the rails (the back one did extend an inch or so onto the front panel, presumably for a firmer hold by both upper edges of the centre rail rather than just the back edge). But it did mean that through my whole ownership of that car I never had to even think about headlining, let alone worry about it. That just came with the last two examples!!

I don't expect it to stop the droop (although an extra layer of insulation may help), but it will make it easier to replace the big panel when it happens next time.
I intend to stick the panel to the roof - probably using something like number plate sticky pads - to give the correx some additional support in the middle.

I'm watching this thread with interest too. I've just bought some headlining material from Lotusbits, and was about to make a start when Angus proposed the Correx sheet.
Angus, if it turns out well, could you include dimensions and the supplier for the Correx sheet in your article? Thanks.

Been stupidly busy with work so I haven't been on the forum since I posted about correx a while ago. Will be very interested to see how it goes. I also have left over roof lining from the last time!
Unfortunately whilst prepping the EXCEL for MOT I noticed a lot of steam rising from under the nose. That would be a radiator leak then..... It was on its way out so sort of expected.

I got three 1.2m x 2.4 m sheets from a seller on ebay. It cost about £30 for them, and is enough to do front and back on 6 cars.

What glue are you using for the fabric to card? I would suggest a spray type such as

Might try that in future - the AF178 that I got from Woolies has actually calmed down a little since the fabric was applied. I think the foam has bounced back and covered over the lumps a bit.

I've recovered my cant rails and am about to remove the roll bar cover.
When removing the seat belt bolts, do the bolts just screw into the roll bar itself or are there any nuts/washers that need to be retained. I would hate to remove the bolt only to hear a clonk as any retaining nut disappears into the depths of the bodyshell...

The upper roll bar cover is a push fit into the covers that have the seat belt bolts in them, so you don't have to undo the belts to get it out.
AFAIK the belts just bolt directly into the vertical sections of the roll bar.
