Thanks for the info Phil . I am getting cold feet regarding this job , it looks quite involved . I have checked the clearances and some of them are one or two thou out of tolerance . I will have a go at a cambelt change first and think about the shims when it warms up a bit . Good job on your water pump by the way.

I'd say leave them, they're out of spec, but not a great amount, the sort of variance you'd correct if the engine was apart but I'd just leave it if the engine is all together.

I've just checked my clearances.
values should be
Inlet: 0.13-0.18 mm
EX: 0.25-0.31
I have 2 valves that is questionable
Inlet 0.2-0.25 (somewhere between that i only have 0.05 resolution)
Ex 0.3-0.35 (-||-)
Can someone comfort me on this one?
